Jeff Williams Interview

This is the link (http://bit.ly/db5V8t) for an interview with Col. Jeff Williams. He has spent over a year viewing God's creation from the International Space Station and the Space Shuttle.

Col. Williams is definitely not afraid to talk about his faith and God's wonderful handiwork!

A very true set of statements!

"Nothing done in humility for the sake of God is bad. But things and pursuits differ. Everything not strictly necessary is a hindrance to salvation - everything, that is to say, that does not contribute to the soul's salvation or to the body's life. For it is not food, but gluttony, that is bad; not money, but attachment to it; not speech, but idle talk; not the world's delights, but dissipation; not love of one's family, but the neglect of God that such love may produce; not the clothes worn only for covering and protection from cold and heat, but those that are excessive and costly; not houses that also protect us from heat and cold, as well as anything human or animal that might harm us, but houses with two or three floors, large and expensive;.. .not friendship, but the having of friends who are of no benefit to one's soul; not woman, but unchastity; not wealth but avarice; not wine but drunkenness; not anger used in accordance with nature for the chastisement of sin, but its use against one's fellow-men."

ISS and The Gospel

http://byztex. blogspot. com/2010/ 01/relics- icons-and- crosses-onboard- intl.htmlRelics, icons, and crosses onboard Intl. Space StationMoscow, Russia, Jan 20, 2010 / 12:11 am (CNA) - The Gospels, four icons, crosses and a relic of the True Cross have been taken aboard the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS), a Russian cosmonaut has reported. A photo taken by the station crew shows an icon and a crucifix floating in zero gravity in the ISS.Writing on his blog at the website of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), Cosmonaut Maksim Suraev responded to readers' questions about religious symbols on the space station."We have four holy icons on the Russia segment. We also have the Gospels and a big cross," he said, according to a blog entry translated by Russia Today in November 2009.Russia Today reported that the Lord's Divine Cross was given to A.N. Merminov, the head of Roscosmos, by the late Patriarch of Moscow Aleksy II. The cross was delivered to the station in 2006 by the crew of Soyuz TMA-8.Suraev added that he has a reliquary cross in his cabin."A priest gave it to me at Baikanur before the launch. Father Job told me a piece of the original cross on which Jesus was crucified is contained in mine."He added that his cross was blessed in the major monastery of Sergiev Posad."It will be with me the whole expedition and will return with me to Earth," the cosmonaut wrote.Holy relics and other objects have been on previous spaceflights. U.S. astronaut Ronald Garan brought a relic of St. Therese of Lisieux with him on the space shuttle Discovery in 2008. He plans to bring another relic of the saint with him on a mission to the ISS in 2011

Lenten Resource Update

Hello Loyal Readers,

Just wanted to update you on the Lenten Resource I was thinking of providing....

As of right now, due to the impending birth of our daughter, I believe it is in the best interest of our daughter and the relationship with my wife to not provide the resource this year.

This is something I would have loved to complete, but I much rather want to insure my relationship with my wife and daughter begin as they should with them as my emphasis.

I humbly ask for your prayers during the coming weeks!!!

Yours In Christ,
Darian L. Hybl
